Eine Lösung, die alle Bestandteile der Analyse, mit Ausnahme des Analyten, enthält, wird als blinde Lösung bezeichnet.
Unter identischen Bedingungen wird die Blindlösung mit dem gleichen Gerät wie die Standardlösung und die Prüfprobe gemessen. Diese Blindprobenbestimmung deckt alle systematischen Fehler und Fehler auf, die durch die Verunreinigungen in den Reagenzien und Lösungsmitteln verursacht werden.
Der Wert des Rohlings wird von allen nachfolgenden Messwerten, wie z.B. von den Standardlösungen oder dem Prüfmuster, abgezogen, um Fehler auszuschließen. Während die Werte aus der Blind- und Standardlösung die Kalibrierkurve erzeugen, wird der aus der Probe erhaltene Wert verwendet, um die unbekannte Konzentration des Analyten genau zu bestimmen.
Bei der titrimetrischen Analyse werden Blindlösungen verwendet, um Fehler zu beseitigen, die durch Verunreinigungen im Titriermittel verursacht werden.

Eine Blindprobe ist eine Lösung, die den Analyten oder die zu testende oder zu messende Substanz nicht enthält. Sie wird normalerweise mit denselben Reagenzien und Verfahren wie die Probenlösung hergestellt, jedoch ohne Zugabe des Analyten. Der Hauptzweck der Herstellung einer Blindprobe besteht darin, etwaige Hintergrundstörungen oder Verunreinigungen zu berücksichtigen, die die Genauigkeit und Zuverlässigkeit der Analysemethode beeinträchtigen können.

In einigen experimentellen Fällen können die bei einer Analyse verwendeten Reagenzien, Lösungsmittel oder Laborgeräte ein erkennbares Signal erzeugen. Durch Messen der Blindprobe kann dieses Hintergrundsignal bestimmt und von den Messungen der Probenlösungen abgezogen werden, um sicherzustellen, dass das beobachtete Signal ausschließlich dem Analyten zugeschrieben werden kann. Die Laborumgebung kann auch Verunreinigungen wie Staub, luftgetragene Partikel oder Rückstände aus früheren Experimenten einbringen. Daher helfen Blindproben dabei, Verunreinigungen während der Probenvorbereitung oder -analyse zu identifizieren und zu korrigieren.

Darüber hinaus wird die Blindprobe manchmal verwendet, um Instrumente oder Messsysteme zu kalibrieren. Durch Festlegen einer Basislinie mit der Blindprobe kann die Reaktion des Instruments standardisiert werden und genaue Messungen liefern, die für nachfolgende Analysen verwendet werden können.

Blank solutions are used in analytical testing to show the background signal before a sample is measured. A blank solution does not contain the analyte, which is the substance of interest being tested or measured. It is usually made with the same reagents and procedure as the sample solution, but without the analyte.

The main purpose of a blank solution is to control for background interference and contamination. Reagents, solvents, or lab equipment can sometimes create a detectable signal on their own. By measuring the blank first, scientists can identify that background signal and subtract it from the sample result.

Blank solutions also help detect contamination from the lab environment. Dust, airborne particles, or residues from earlier experiments can affect the analysis. In some cases, a blank solution is also used to calibrate instruments or measurement systems. It establishes a baseline so later sample measurements can be standardized and more accurate.
