Die gängigen Stichprobenverfahren sind Zufalls-, Beurteilungs-, systematische, geschichtete und Cluster-Stichproben. 
Bei der Zufallsstichprobe wird eine Stichprobe erhalten, indem Individuen aus einer Population ohne Präferenz zufällig ausgewählt werden, wobei jede die gleiche Chance hat, ausgewählt zu werden.
Im Gegenteil, Judgemental Sampling ist ein nicht zufälliger Prozess. Hier wird eine Stichprobe auf der Grundlage der verfügbaren Informationen über die Grundgesamtheit ausgewählt.
Die systematische Stichprobenziehung ist eine Methode, bei der in regelmäßigen Abständen Individuen aus einer Population ausgewählt werden. Um beispielsweise eine Stichprobengröße von 4 Personen aus einer Grundgesamtheit von 12 Personen zu generieren, wird der Startpunkt nach dem Zufallsprinzip zwischen eins und dem Stichprobenintervall ausgewählt. Jedes 3. Mitglied wird also ausgewählt, um eine Stichprobe von 4 Personen zu bilden.
Bei der geschichteten Stichprobe wird die Bevölkerung in Untergruppen oder Schichten eingeteilt, die auf den gemeinsamen Merkmalen der Individuen basieren. Die Individuen werden dann proportional aus jeder Untergruppe ausgewählt, um eine endgültige Probe für die Analyse zusammenzustellen.
Ebenso geht es bei der Cluster-Stichprobe darum, die Grundgesamtheit in Untergruppen oder Cluster zu unterteilen. Einige Cluster werden dann nach dem Zufallsprinzip für die Bewertung ausgewählt.

Die Stichprobennahme ist ein entscheidender Schritt in der analytischen Chemie, da sie es Forschern ermöglicht, repräsentative Daten aus einer großen Population zu sammeln. Zu den üblichen Methoden zur Probenahme gehören zufällige, gezielte, systematische, geschichtete und Cluster-Stichprobennahme.

Die zufällige Stichprobennahme ist eine Methode, bei der jedes Mitglied der Population die gleiche Chance hat, für die Stichprobe ausgewählt zu werden. Dabei werden Individuen nach dem Zufallsprinzip ausgewählt, oft mithilfe von Zufallszahlen oder in der Lotterie verwendeten Methoden. Wenn Sie beispielsweise die Eigenschaften einer Polymerfolie analysieren, können Sie eine zufällige Stichprobennahme durchführen, indem Sie die Folie in gleich große Abschnitte von 1 cm x 1 cm unterteilen und dann mithilfe einer Zufallszahlentabelle 10 Abschnitte nach dem Zufallsprinzip für die Analyse auswählen. Dadurch wird sichergestellt, dass auf der gesamten Folie unvoreingenommene Proben ausgewählt werden. Die zufällige Stichprobennahme minimiert die Verzerrung und hilft, eine Stichprobe zu erstellen, die die gesamte Population genau repräsentiert.

Die gezielte Stichprobennahme ist eine nicht-probabilistische Methode, die auf dem Urteilsvermögen oder der Expertise des Forschers beruht, um die für die Studie am besten geeigneten Personen oder Proben auszuwählen. Angenommen, ein Forscher untersucht die Bioakkumulation von polychlorierten Biphenylen (PCB) in Fischen. In diesem Fall kann er selektiv nur Fische beproben, die bestimmte Kriterien erfüllen, z. B. kleiner sind oder ungesund aussehen. Diese Methode wird häufig verwendet, wenn Aufsichtsbehörden bestimmte Kriterien zur Definition der zu entnehmenden Probe verlangen.

Bei der systematischen Probenahme wird jedes n-te Individuum aus einer Population ausgewählt, nachdem ein Startpunkt zufällig gewählt wurde. In Umweltstudien kann die systematische Probenahme beispielsweise verwendet werden, um Proben aus einem See zu entnehmen, indem dieser in ein Raster unterteilt und in regelmäßigen Abständen aus jedem Abschnitt Proben entnommen werden, um eine räumliche Abdeckung des Sees sicherzustellen. Dieser Ansatz ist bei Studien hilfreich, bei denen räumliche Trends berücksichtigt werden, z. B. die Sauerstoffverteilung im Wasser.

Bei der geschichteten Probenahme wird die Population anhand bestimmter für die Forschung relevanter Merkmale in unterschiedliche Untergruppen oder Schichten unterteilt. Die Proben werden dann zufällig aus jeder Schicht im Verhältnis zu ihrem Anteil an der Population ausgewählt. Bei der Untersuchung von Partikeln in der Luft in Städten könnte beispielsweise eine geschichtete Probenahme verwendet werden, indem die Population in verschiedene Kategorien der Partikelgrößen (z. B. fein, grob) unterteilt wird. Anschließend werden aus jeder Kategorie Proben entnommen, um ihren Beitrag zur Gesamtverschmutzung zu ermitteln. Diese Methode ermöglicht eine präzisere Analyse innerhalb jeder Untergruppe und verringert den Stichprobenfehler.

Bei der Cluster-Stichprobennahme wird die Population in Cluster oder Gruppen unterteilt, im Idealfall kleine Repräsentationen der Gesamtpopulation. Einige Cluster werden nach dem Zufallsprinzip ausgewählt und alle Personen innerhalb der ausgewählten Cluster werden beprobt. Diese Methode wird häufig in groß angelegten Studien verwendet, bei denen logistische Einschränkungen die Anzahl der Probennahmestellen begrenzen. Beispielsweise könnte eine Studie zur Grundwasserverschmutzung eine Region basierend auf geografischen Grenzen in Cluster unterteilen und dann nach dem Zufallsprinzip einige Cluster (Regionen) auswählen, um Proben aus allen verfügbaren Brunnen zu entnehmen.

Sampling is a key step in analytical chemistry. It helps researchers collect data that represents a larger population. The main sampling methods in this topic are random, judgmental, systematic, stratified, and cluster sampling.

Random sampling gives each member of the population an equal chance of being chosen. Researchers often use a random number generator or a lottery-style method. For example, a polymer sheet can be divided into 1 cm x 1 cm sections, and 10 sections can be selected at random for analysis. This helps reduce bias and supports a sample that reflects the whole population.

Judgmental sampling is also called purposive or selective sampling. It depends on the researcher&amp;#39;s judgment to choose samples that fit the study. For example, a researcher studying bioaccumulation of PCBs in fish may choose smaller fish or fish that appear unhealthy. Regulatory agencies may also require specific criteria for this kind of sampling.

Systematic sampling uses a random starting point and then selects every n th individual. It can also be used in environmental studies with a grid, such as sampling a lake at regular intervals. This method helps provide spatial coverage across the lake. It is useful when studying spatial trends, such as oxygen distribution in water.

Stratified sampling divides a population into strata, or subgroups, based on a feature linked to the study. Samples are then randomly taken from each stratum in proportion to its size in the population. For example, particulate matter in urban air can be grouped by particle size, such as fine and coarse particles. This approach can improve precision within each subgroup and reduce sampling error.

Cluster sampling divides the population into clusters, or groups that can act as mini-representations of the whole. A few clusters are randomly selected, and everyone within those clusters is sampled. This method is often used in large studies when the number of sampling sites must be limited. For example, a groundwater contamination study may divide a region into geographic clusters and then sample all available wells in the chosen clusters.
