Die an eine Getriebewelle erforderlichen Konstruktionsspezifikationen sind die von der Welle übertragene Leistung und ihre Drehzahl.
Basierend auf diesen Spezifikationen werden die Material- und Querschnittsabmessungen der Welle so gewählt, dass die maximale Schubspannung, die das Material zulässt, innerhalb der Elastizitätsgrenze bleibt, während die erforderliche Leistung bei der angegebenen Geschwindigkeit übertragen wird.
Nun hängt die mit einem System verbundene Leistung vom aufgebrachten Drehmoment ab. Wenn man die Begriffe neu anordnet, kann das auf die Welle ausgeübte Drehmoment berechnet werden. Diese Gleichung berücksichtigt sowohl den Leistungsbedarf als auch die Drehzahl der Welle.
Das berechnete Drehmoment und die maximal zulässige Spannung werden dann in der elastischen Torsionsformel angewendet, um den minimal zulässigen Wert für den Wellenradius zu bestimmen.
Bei einer massiven Kreiswelle variiert dieses Verhältnis des polaren Trägheitsmoments zum Radius der Welle mit dem Würfel des Wellenradius. Wenn Sie ihn ersetzen, erhalten Sie den minimal erforderlichen Wert für den Wellenradius.
Für einen Hohlzylinder wird der minimal zulässige Wert des Außenradius der Welle berechnet.

Die Konstruktion einer Getriebewelle wird im Wesentlichen von zwei Spezifikationen bestimmt: der von ihr übertragenen Leistung und ihrer Drehzahl. Bei dieser Berechnung werden sowohl der Leistungsbedarf als auch die Drehzahl der Welle berücksichtigt. Sobald das Drehmoment und die maximal zulässige Spannung berechnet sind, werden sie in die elastische Torsionsformel einbezogen. Durch diesen Vorgang wird der minimal zulässige Wert für den Wellenradius ermittelt. Bei einer massiven kreisförmigen Welle variiert das Verhältnis des polaren Trägheitsmoments zum Wellenradius als Potenz des Wellenradius. Der minimal erforderliche Wert für den Wellenradius wird durch Ersetzen dieses Werts berechnet.

Für eine Hohlzylinderwelle ergeben die Berechnungen den minimal zulässigen Wert für den Außenradius der Welle. Daher besteht der Entwurfsprozess für eine Getriebewelle in einem sorgfältigen Gleichgewicht zwischen Leistung, Geschwindigkeit, Belastungsgrenzen und physikalischen Abmessungen.

A transmission shaft is sized from the power it must carry and the speed it rotates at. These two design limits guide the choice of shaft material and cross-sectional size. The goal is to keep the maximum shearing stress within the elastic limit while still transmitting the needed power.

Power is directly linked to torque, which is the twisting force applied to the shaft. By rearranging the power relation, the torque can be found from the required power and the shaft speed. That torque value is then used with the maximum allowable stress in the elastic torsion formula.

The torsion calculation gives the minimum allowed shaft radius. For a solid circular shaft, the polar moment of inertia divided by the radius changes with the cube of the radius, so this value is used to find the minimum radius. For a hollow cylindrical shaft, the same process gives the minimum outer radius. In this way, shaft design balances power, speed, stress limits, and physical size.
