Baustahlprodukte werden in einem Konstruktionswalzwerk hergestellt, in dem der Trägerrohling erneut erhitzt und durch Walzen in die gewünschte Form und Größe veredelt wird.
Durch die Anpassung der Walzenabstände in der Strukturfräse entstehen Familien von Strukturprofilen mit verwandten Formen.
Die endgültige Form ist eine durchgehende Länge von den letzten Walzen, die mit einer Heißsäge segmentiert wird. Die Segmente werden gekühlt und geglättet, um eine Gleichmäßigkeit zu gewährleisten.
Schwerere Profile werden durch das Zusammenschweißen von Flansch- und Stegplatten und nicht durch Walzen hergestellt.
Strukturformen werden durch die Standardnomenklatur mit einem Buchstaben für die Form und Zahlen für Größe, Dicke oder Gewicht gekennzeichnet.
Beispiele hierfür sind Träger-, Stützen-, Kanal- und T-Formen, die durch Form, Nenntiefe und Gewicht gekennzeichnet sind.
Winkel, Hohlprofile, Stangen und Platten werden durch Form, Größe und Dicke gekennzeichnet.
Baustahl kann durch Walzen, Biegen oder Strecken bei Raumtemperatur kaltumgeformt werden, wodurch die Form der Stäbe verändert wird.
Dünne Stahlbleche bilden leichte C-Profile, während dickere Bleche zu verschiedenen Hohlformen kaltumgeformt werden, die dann entlang ihrer Längsnähte verschweißt werden.

Baustahlprodukte werden in einem Walzwerk hergestellt. Der Prozess beginnt mit einem Trägerrohling, der wieder erhitzt und dann durch eine Reihe von Walzen geführt wird. Diese Walzen bringen das Metall nach und nach in seine endgültige Form. Durch Anpassen der Abstände zwischen den Walzen können verschiedene Abschnitte mit denselben Nennmaßen hergestellt werden.

Nach der Formgebung entsteht die endgültige Form des Stahls als durchgehende Länge, die dann von einer Schneidbrenner in handliche Stücke unterteilt wird. Diese Abschnitte werden anschließend abgekühlt und durch einen weiteren Satz Walzen geführt, die den Stahl gerade biegen und alle Abweichungen oder Fehler beheben, die während des Formgebungsprozesses entstanden sein könnten.

Bei schwereren Strukturteilen besteht eine alternative Methode darin, Flansch- und Stegplatten zusammenzuschweißen, anstatt sich ausschließlich auf das Walzen zu verlassen. Diese Methode ermöglicht die Herstellung größerer und robusterer Teile, die für anspruchsvollere Konstruktionsanforderungen benötigt werden.

Baustahlformen sind standardisiert und durch eine spezifische Nomenklatur identifiziert, die einen Buchstaben enthält, der die Form darstellt, gefolgt von Größen-, Dicken- oder Gewichtsangaben. Zu den üblichen Strukturformen gehören Balken, Säulen,U-Profile und T-Profile, die jeweils durch bestimmte Abmessungen wie Nenntiefe und Gewicht gekennzeichnet sind. Darüber hinaus werden andere Formen wie Winkel, Hohlprofile, Stangen und Platten durch ihre Form, Größe und Dicke bezeichnet.

Baustahl kann auch nachträglich durch Kaltbearbeitungsmethoden wie Walzen, Biegen oder Strecken bei Raumtemperatur modifiziert werden, um die Form der Elemente zu verändern. Dünne Stahlbleche werden häufig verwendet, um leichte C-Profile herzustellen, während dickere Bleche kalt in verschiedene Hohlformen wie quadratische, rechteckige, runde oder elliptische Formen geformt werden können, die dann entlang ihrer Längsnähte verschweißt werden, um robuste Hohlprofile herzustellen.

Structural steel shapes are made in a structural mill. The process starts with a beam blank. The steel is reheated and then sent through a series of rollers that gradually form it into its final shape.

The spacing between the rollers can be changed to make different sections with the same nominal dimensions. After shaping, the steel leaves the mill as a continuous length. A hot saw then cuts it into manageable pieces.

The cut pieces are cooled and passed through another set of rollers. These rollers straighten the steel and correct deviations or flaws that may have been introduced during shaping. For heavier structural sections, manufacturers may weld flange and web plates together instead of using rolling alone.

Structural steel shapes use standard names and codes. A letter identifies the shape, and the size, thickness, or weight comes next. Common examples include beams, columns, channels, and T shapes, along with angles, hollow sections, bars, and plates.

Steel members can also be changed after production by cold-working at room temperature. Cold-working includes rolling, bending, and stretching. Thin steel sheets can be formed into lightweight C-sections, while thicker sheets can be cold-formed into square, rectangular, round, or elliptical hollow shapes and then welded along their length.
