Mesh-shaped Constructs

Mesh-shaped constructs are three-dimensional bioengineered structures composed of interconnected fibers, strands, or pores that organize biological and synthetic materials into a flexible framework. Their open architecture supports cell attachment and growth while permitting the movement of nutrients, oxygen, and waste through the construct, with performance influenced by mesh size, material properties, and degradation rate. In bioengineering, these constructs serve as scaffolds for tissue regeneration, drug delivery, wound repair, and the development of biomimetic models. By combining structural support with controlled transport and cellular organization, mesh-based designs help researchers engineer materials that better replicate the physical environment of living tissues.

Mesh Analysis

Mesh analysis is a valuable method for simplifying circuit analysis using mesh currents as key circuit variables. Unlike nodal analysis, which focuses on determining unknown voltages, mesh analysis applies Kirchhoff's voltage law (KVL) to find unknown currents within a circuit. This method is particularly convenient in reducing the number of simultaneous equations that need to be solved. A fundamental concept in mesh analysis is the definition of meshes and mesh currents. A mesh is a closed...

Here, we demonstrate fabrication of collagen-based, tissue constructs containing skeletal myoblasts. These 3-D engineered constructs may be used to replace or repair tissues in vivo. For our purposes, we have designed these as an atrioventricular electrical conduit for the repair of complete heart block[1].

Dipole Moment of a Molecule Polar covalent bonds connect two atoms with differing electronegativities, leaving one atom with a partial positive charge (δ+) and the other atom with a partial negative charge (δ–), as the electrons are pulled toward the more electronegative atom. This separation of charge gives rise to a bond dipole moment. The magnitude of a bond dipole moment is represented by the Greek letter mu (µ) and is given by the formula shown here, where Q is the magnitude of the...
