Pancreatic Tissue-derived Ecm

Pancreatic tissue-derived extracellular matrix (ECM) is a biomaterial obtained from the structural network surrounding cells in pancreatic tissue, providing biochemical and physical cues that support tissue-specific engineering. It is typically produced by decellularization, which removes cellular components while preserving matrix proteins, architecture, and signaling molecules; the resulting material can be processed into hydrogels, coatings, or three-dimensional scaffolds. In bioengineering, pancreatic tissue-derived ECM helps recreate the native microenvironment for pancreatic cells and islet culture, disease modeling, drug testing, and regenerative strategies. Its tissue-specific composition may improve cell attachment, function, and maturation compared with nonspecific materials.
