Mirna Exchange

miRNA exchange is the movement of microRNAs between cells, enabling genetic information to influence biological processes beyond the cell in which these small RNA molecules are produced. Cells can package miRNAs into extracellular vesicles or other protective carriers, release them into surrounding fluids, and deliver them to recipient cells, where the miRNAs bind complementary messenger RNAs and alter gene expression. This form of intercellular communication contributes to regulation of development, immune responses, tissue homeostasis, and disease-related signaling. Studying miRNA exchange helps researchers understand cell-to-cell communication and supports investigation of biomarkers and potential RNA-based therapeutic strategies.

miRNA Extraction: A Method to Extract miRNA from Plasma Sample

2023

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are tissue specific, small, non-coding RNAs regulating gene expression, and could represent ideal candidates for early detection of lung cancer. In the featured protocol, we will isolate microRNA from patient blood samples for early lung cancer screening.

Circulating miRNA Extraction: A Method to Isolate miRNA from Plasma Samples Via Organic Extraction and Small RNA Enrichment

2023

This video describes the extraction of circulating microRNA from plasma samples of colorectal cancer patients using organic extraction followed by glass-fiber column enrichment. miRNAs are stable in biological fluids such as serum and plasma, which renders them ideal circulating biomarkers for cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment decision-making and monitoring. This method will help identify new circulating biomarkers capable of predicting clinical outcomes in patients.

Modelling Intratumoral Treatment with miRNA Inhibitors: A Method to Analyze the Effect of miRNA Inhibitors on Tumor Growth in Murine Model

2023

This video demonstrates the in vivo delivery of miRNA inhibitors as therapeutic agents against tumor growth in orthotopic mouse models. The intratumoral administration of synthetic miRNA inhibitors or antagomiRs allows them to bind and inhibit endogenous miRNAs, thereby causing mRNA upregulation and suppression of tumor growth.

Social Exchange Theory

2020

We have discussed why we form relationships, what attracts us to others, and different types of love. But what determines whether we are satisfied with and stay in a relationship? One theory that provides an explanation is social exchange theory. According to social exchange theory, we act as naïve economists in keeping a tally of the ratio of costs and benefits of forming and maintaining a relationship with others (Rusbult & Van Lange, 2003). People are motivated to maximize the benefits...
