Current Probe Measurement

Current probe measurement is the determination of electric current flowing through a circuit or electrochemical system, providing a direct measure of charge transport. A probe senses current either from the magnetic field produced by moving charge, as in Hall-effect or transformer-based devices, or from the voltage drop across a known shunt resistance. In chemistry, these measurements are central to electrochemical experiments, where electrode current reflects oxidation-reduction reactions at an interface. Coupled with techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, current monitoring helps quantify reaction kinetics, analyte concentration, mass transport, and energy-storage performance while minimizing disruption to the tested circuit.

Here, we present a protocol to measure, with high spatial resolution, the unsteady surface pressure in turbulent flows. This method demonstrates the construction of a remote microphone probe (RMP) and the determination of its frequency-dependent, complex transfer function. An analytical determination of the dynamic response is presented and validated.

An Assay to Measure the Accumulation of a Fluorescent Antibiotic Probe in Bacterial Cells

2025

This video demonstrates an assay to measure the accumulation of a fluorescent antibiotic probe in bacterial cells. Exposure to an efflux pump inhibitor disrupts the transmembrane proton gradient in bacterial cells, upon which a fluorophore-conjugated antibiotic is added. Inhibition of efflux pumps due to the disrupted proton gradient causes accumulation of the antibiotic inside the bacteria. Bacterial cells are lysed, and the fluorescence intensity is measured to confirm antibiotic accumulation.

Positioning Laser Doppler Probe: A Technique to Implant Probe Over Middle Cerebral Artery for Blood Flow Measurement in Murine Model

2025

This video describes the surgical procedure to immobilize the laser Doppler probe over the murine brain's middle cerebral artery, or MCA. The probe helps to measure the blood flow in the brain's microvasculature by measuring the Doppler shift caused due to the motion of red blood cells within the artery.
