Narrow Distribution

Narrow distribution in chemistry describes a population of molecules, particles, or measured values that cluster closely around a central value, indicating low variability and high uniformity. It arises when chemical synthesis, nucleation and growth, fractionation, or separation processes limit differences in composition, molecular mass, particle size, or retention behavior; in polymer chemistry, this is often expressed through a low dispersity. Materials with narrow distributions show more predictable melting, flow, dissolution, reactivity, and transport properties than heterogeneous samples. Controlling distribution width therefore supports reproducible formulation, nanoparticle preparation, polymer design, chromatographic analysis, and quality assessment across research and industrial chemistry.

Distribution of Stresses in a Narrow Rectangular Beam

2024

In studying beam stress distribution, examining an elemental section is essential. To determine the average shearing stress on this face, the calculated shear is divided by the surface area. Importantly, shearing stresses on the beam's transverse and horizontal planes mirror each other, indicating a consistent stress distribution along the upper region of the beam. Notably, shearing stresses are absent at the beam's upper and lower surfaces due to the absence of applied forces in these areas.

Phase-shift nanoemulsions (PSNE) can be vaporized using high intensity focused ultrasound to enhance localized heating and improve thermal ablation in tumors. In this report, the preparation of stable PSNE with a narrow size distribution is described. Furthermore, the impact of vaporized PSNE on ultrasound-mediated ablation is demonstrated in tissue-mimicking phantoms.

Detection of Internal Carotid Artery Narrowing Using Digital Subtraction Angiography

Position a human patient with internal carotid stenosis, a condition characterized by narrowing of the internal carotid artery, on the imaging table for digital subtraction angiography (DSA). Insert an angiocatheter into the common carotid artery at the fourth cervical vertebra level. Capture a pre-contrast X-ray image to record background structures like bones and soft tissues using X-ray irradiation. Administer an iodine-based contrast medium into the carotid artery. The contrast medium...

In the field of psychology, there are several ways to organize measurements of a trait, feature, or characteristic (i.e., variables). Qualitative data, such as ethnicity, can be tabulated into a frequency count to provide information about the proportion, as well as the variety of groups in a sample or population. On the other hand, researchers can perform a wider set of calculations on quantitative data. The mean, mode, and median, for instance, are central tendency measures to identify a...

F Distribution

The F distribution was named after Sir Ronald Fisher, an English statistician. The F statistic is a ratio (a fraction) with two sets of degrees of freedom; one for the numerator and one for the denominator. The F distribution is derived from the Student's t distribution. The values of the F distribution are squares of the corresponding values of the t distribution. One-Way ANOVA expands the t test for comparing more than two groups. The scope of that derivation is beyond the level of this...
