Plant-derived Products

Plant-derived products are materials, chemicals, foods, fuels, and other goods made from plant biomass, offering alternatives to products based on fossil or animal resources. They are produced by processing plant components such as cellulose, starch, oils, proteins, and natural compounds through methods including extraction, fermentation, separation, and chemical or enzymatic conversion. In environmental research, these products support renewable-material development, biodegradable packaging, biofuels, and the recovery of value from agricultural residues. Their sustainability depends on factors such as land use, water demand, energy consumption, processing methods, durability, and end-of-life management, making life-cycle assessment essential for evaluating their overall environmental impact.

Here we describe a protocol based only on cell infection, which improves the efficiency of recombinant parvovirus production by more than 100 fold in comparison to other protocols in use. This protocol relies on the use of a novel adenovirus 5-based helper containing the parvovirus VP transcription unit (Ad-VP).
