Asset Sales

Asset sales are transactions in which an organization transfers ownership of property, equipment, investments, intellectual property, or other resources to another party in exchange for cash or other consideration. The seller identifies the asset, establishes a value through market comparisons, appraisal, or financial analysis, negotiates terms, and records the resulting gain or loss based on the asset’s carrying value. In finance, these transactions can release capital, improve liquidity, reduce debt, or support strategic restructuring. Their effects depend on pricing, taxes, transaction costs, accounting treatment, and how the sale changes the organization’s operating capacity and future cash flows.

These assets are not intended for resale during regular business operations but are used in production, supply chain, or administrative functions.
