Data Processing

Data processing is the systematic collection, organization, cleaning, and analysis of raw information to produce reliable, interpretable results. In immunology and infection research, computational workflows convert measurements from techniques such as flow cytometry, microscopy, sequencing, and immunoassays into structured datasets by removing errors, standardizing values, identifying patterns, and applying statistical or bioinformatic methods. These steps help researchers quantify immune-cell populations, characterize pathogen genomes, compare responses across experimental conditions, and integrate clinical or epidemiological observations. Rigorous data processing improves reproducibility, supports accurate interpretation of complex biological signals, and enables applications ranging from biomarker identification to pathogen surveillance and evaluation of vaccines or treatments.

2013

Surface renewal is a micrometeorological method that is being used increasingly to determine energy fluxes, but its technical complexity makes it inaccessible to a broad audience. We describe the steps needed to set up and calibrate a surface renewal field station, to acquire and process data, and to correctly interpret results.
