Dual Quantification Method

The Dual Quantification Method is an analytical approach that measures two target substances simultaneously or within a coordinated workflow, improving the efficiency of quantitative analysis in medicine. It typically distinguishes the targets through separate signals, detection channels, calibration curves, or measurement conditions, then converts each signal into a concentration using validated reference standards. This strategy can support clinical diagnostics, therapeutic drug monitoring, biomarker assessment, and pharmaceutical research when accurate comparison of two analytes is important. By reducing processing time and sample consumption while enabling paired measurements, dual quantification can strengthen experimental consistency and help researchers interpret relationships between biological or treatment-related variables.

Duplex Digital PCR for Simultaneous Quantification of Dual Genetic Markers

2025

In this video, we demonstrate the duplex digital PCR (ddPCR) technique — a modification of the traditional PCR technique that is useful in detecting two different genetic markers simultaneously. A single PCR reaction is partitioned into nanoliter-sized emulsified droplets that are independently amplified, and the detection of differently colored fluorescence amplification signals from the fraction of droplets is used to compute the initial concentration of the target sequences.

Dual fluoroscopy accurately captures in vivo dynamic motion of human joints, which can be visualized relative to reconstructed anatomy (e.g., arthrokinematics). Herein, a detailed protocol to quantify hip arthrokinematics during weight-bearing activities of daily living is presented, including the integration of dual fluoroscopy with traditional skin marker motion capture.

Oligodendrocytes are the myelinating cells of the central nervous system. This protocol describes a method for the isolation and culture of their precursors, oligodendrocyte progenitor cells, from rat cortices, as well as a fast and reliable quantitative method to evaluate oligodendrogenesis in vitro in response to experimental factors.
