Exercise Intensity Modulation

Exercise intensity modulation is the deliberate adjustment of physical effort during training or rehabilitation to control physiological stress and support specific health goals. It works by varying workload, speed, resistance, duration, or recovery intervals, using measures such as heart rate, perceived exertion, oxygen consumption, or power to regulate exercise dose. In medicine, clinicians and researchers apply this approach in interval training, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, metabolic disease management, and studies of exercise responses. Matching intensity to an individual’s capacity can improve adherence, guide progression, reduce excessive strain, and clarify how different exercise prescriptions influence functional and clinical outcomes.

Impact of High-intensity Interval Exercise and Moderate-Intensity Continuous Exercise on the Cardiac Troponin T Level at an Early Stage of Training

2019

Here, we present protocols of high-intensity interval and moderate-intensity continuous exercise to observe the response of circulating cardiac troponin T (cTnT) concentration to acute exercise over 10 days. The information may assist with clinical interpretations of post-exercise cTnT elevation and guide the prescription of exercise.

Supramaximal Intensity Hypoxic Exercise and Vascular Function Assessment in Mice

High-intensity training in hypoxia is a protocol that has been proven to induce vascular adaptations potentially beneficial in some patients and to improve athletes' repeated sprint ability. Here, we test the feasibility of training mice using that protocol and identify those vascular adaptations using ex vivo vascular function assessment.

2013

Pulmonary rehabilitation is widely recognized in the management of respiratory diseases. A key component to successful pulmonary rehabilitation is adherence to the recommended exercise training. The purpose of the present protocol is to describe how continuous data tracking technology can be used to precisely measure adherence to a prescribed aerobic training intensity.

This protocol describes the electromyographic fatigue threshold which demarcates between nonfatiguing and fatiguing exercise workloads. This information could be used to develop a more individualized training program.

Evaluation of Blood Lactate and Plasma Insulin During High-intensity Exercise by Antecubital Vein Catheterization
