Gastrojejunostomy

Gastrojejunostomy is a surgical procedure that creates a direct connection, or anastomosis, between the stomach and jejunum to reroute gastrointestinal contents when the normal gastric outlet or duodenal pathway is unavailable or obstructed. By joining these organs, surgeons establish an alternative route that allows partially digested food and liquids to pass from the stomach into the small intestine while bypassing the pylorus and duodenum. The procedure may relieve symptoms and restore enteral passage in conditions such as gastric outlet obstruction, and it can reconstruct digestive continuity after gastric surgery. Open, laparoscopic, and endoscopic approaches offer different options for treatment and recovery.
