Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive surgical technique that allows physicians to examine or operate within the abdomen or pelvis through small incisions rather than a large open incision. Surgeons insert a laparoscope, a slender camera, and specialized instruments through trocar ports after inflating the body cavity, typically with carbon dioxide, to create working space and improve visualization. The technique supports procedures such as gallbladder removal, hernia repair, appendectomy, and gynecologic operations. Compared with many open procedures, it can reduce tissue disruption, postoperative pain, scarring, and recovery time, while requiring precise instrument control and specialized training.
