Supplier numbers refer to the number of firms or individuals able and willing to offer a good or service in a market, an important factor in understanding competition and market supply. When more suppliers enter, the total quantity available typically expands, buyers gain more alternatives, and individual firms have less influence over price; entry barriers, production costs, and expected profits affect this process.
