Murine Myopia Model

The murine myopia model is an experimental system that reproduces key features of nearsightedness in mice, enabling researchers to study how visual experience influences eye growth and neural function. Myopia is commonly induced by form deprivation, which reduces retinal image quality, or by placing a negative-power lens before the eye; these conditions alter retinal signaling and promote axial elongation, producing a myopic refractive shift. Researchers use the model to investigate interactions among the retina, choroid, sclera, and brain pathways involved in visual regulation. It also supports evaluation of molecular mechanisms, environmental influences, and potential treatments for myopia.

(2019)This video demonstrates a procedure for inducing myopia in a mouse through the installation of a custom lens frame. The frame is secured to the exposed skull with dental adhesive, and concave lenses are inserted to shift the focal point behind the retina. This setup stimulates eyeball elongation leading to myopia.

Marketing Myopia

2024

Marketing myopia is a concept that highlights the shortsightedness of businesses when they focus too narrowly on their products or services rather than understanding and addressing the broader needs and wants of their customers. This myopic view can lead to a failure to recognize changes in consumer preferences and market dynamics, ultimately hindering long-term success. In order to avoid marketing myopia, businesses should adopt a customer-centric approach, continually adapt to evolving...
