Trauma-related Cues Exposure

Trauma-related cues exposure is a neuroscience method that presents reminders associated with a traumatic event to examine emotional, physiological, and neural responses. These cues can activate conditioned fear and threat networks; repeated, controlled presentation without the traumatic outcome may reduce reactivity through extinction and new inhibitory learning. Researchers use this approach to study memory, stress regulation, and the mechanisms underlying post-traumatic stress disorder, while clinicians adapt related exposure procedures to support symptom reduction. Measures such as autonomic activity, behavior, and brain imaging help evaluate individual responses and identify factors that influence recovery and treatment effectiveness.

Source: Laboratory of Jonathan Flombaum—Johns Hopkins University Attention refers to the limited human ability to select some information for processing at the expense of other stimuli in the environment. Attention operates in all sensory modalities: vision, hearing, touch, even taste and smell. It is most often studied in the visual domain though. A common way to study visual attention is with a spatial cueing paradigm. This paradigm allows researchers to measure the consequences of focusing...

Pseudofracture, a reproducible murine model of sterile musculoskeletal trauma, allows for evaluation of late term post-traumatic immune responses. This article describes the procedural execution of the model step by step, including the potential for experimental model combinations to permit study of multiple trauma.

We present a protocol of personalized script-driven trauma-related imagery and clinical assessments within a comparison design for investigating peritraumatic dissociation (PD), psychophysiological reactions, i.e. heart rate (HR) and skin conductance (SC), and psychological features of often severely traumatized individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD).

Acute Brain Trauma in Mice Followed By Longitudinal Two-photon Imaging

Acute brain trauma is a severe injury that has no adequate treatment to date. Multiphoton microscopy allows studying longitudinally the process of acute brain trauma development and probing therapeutical strategies in rodents. Two models of acute brain trauma studied with in vivo two-photon imaging of brain are demonstrated in this protocol.

We discuss a novel method forviewpoint-rotation of visual stimuli, and demonstrate using a mirror stereoscopethe three-dimensional percept of rotation-in-depth. The technique can be used to investigate the role of stereoscopic cues in encoding viewpoint-rotated figures.
