Voluntary Response Sampling

Voluntary response sampling is a nonprobability sampling method in which individuals choose whether to participate in a survey or study after an open invitation. Rather than selecting units randomly, researchers make the survey available through channels such as media, websites, or public notices, and the resulting sample consists of people who decide to respond. This self-selection can produce voluntary response bias because participants may hold stronger opinions, greater interest, or different experiences than nonparticipants, limiting representativeness and generalizability. In statistics, the method is useful for gathering rapid public input, but results require cautious interpretation and should not be treated as unbiased estimates of the target population.

2019

A novel sample holder for macromolecular X-ray crystallography along with a suitable handling protocol is presented. The system allows crystal growth, crystal soaking and in situ diffraction data collection at both, ambient and cryogenic temperature without the need of any crystal manipulation or mounting.

A Multiplex Serological Assay for the Detection of Antibody Responses to Arboviruses

2025

Multiplex fluorescence immunoassays are becoming a reference for serology testing. Their application, however, is limited by the complexity and time-consuming bead-analyte coupling processes. This report presents a semi-automated, reproducible multiplex microsphere bead coupling protocol that is comparable to the standard method while considerably reducing time to results.

Sampling Methods: Sample Types

2024

Sampling materials are classified into three main types: solid, liquid, and gas. Solid samples include a variety of substances, such as sediments from water bodies, soil, metals, and biological tissues. Two standard methods for extracting sediments from water bodies are grab sampling and piston coring. Grab sampling involves using a device to collect a discrete sediment sample from the bottom of a water body with minimal disturbance. Grab samples do not always represent the entire area due to...
