Histogram

Recuerde que las tablas de distribución de frecuencias ayudan a organizar los datos cuantitativos con varias categorías, como el número de libros en diferentes rangos de precios.
Dichas tablas de distribución de frecuencia se pueden representar visualmente mediante histogramas, un gráfico que consta de barras de igual ancho dibujadas sin espacios. 
El eje vertical representa las frecuencias de cada clase y el eje horizontal representa los límites de la clase. 
Entonces, ¿qué son los límites de clase? El primer intervalo de la tabla de datos muestra el precio que va de 5 a 10 dólares, y el segundo intervalo ofrece el rango de precios de 11 a 16. 
Tenga en cuenta que el rango de precios entre 10 y 11 falta en la tabla. Este espacio se rellena calculando sus puntos medios, llamados límites de clase.

Para construir un histograma, se puede decidir cuántas barras o intervalos, también llamados clases, representan los datos. Muchos histogramas constan de cinco a 15 barras o clases para mayor claridad, pero se puede elegir la cantidad de barras necesarias.

A histogram shows how data is distributed in a data set. It uses an x-y graph to display the pattern of the data. The x-axis is labeled with what the data represents, such as distance from home to school. The y-axis shows frequency, relative frequency, percent frequency, or probability.

A histogram is made of adjoining bars. The height of each bar matches the frequency value for that class. Even with different labels, the graph keeps the same overall shape. Like a stemplot, a histogram can show the shape, center, and spread of the data.

Histograms are most useful for large, continuous, quantitative data sets. They can display large data sets clearly and quickly. A common rule of thumb is to use a histogram when a data set has 100 values or more.

To build a histogram, you choose how many bars or intervals, also called classes, will represent the data. Many histograms use five to 15 bars for clarity. The right number depends on the data and the level of detail needed.
