Fine Forceps Extraction

Fine forceps extraction is a precision dissection technique that uses narrow, fine-tipped forceps to remove selected tissue or structures from a biological specimen while limiting damage to surrounding material. Under magnification, the operator stabilizes the specimen, grasps the target with controlled pressure, and separates it according to anatomical boundaries, adhesion, and tissue consistency. In cancer research, this approach can help isolate tumor regions or associated tissues for histological examination, molecular analysis, cell culture, or other downstream assays. Careful extraction improves sample integrity and supports more localized characterization of tumor composition, microenvironment, and treatment-related changes.

Fineness of Cement

2024

The fineness of cement directly influences the rate of hydration, as the hydration begins at the surface of the cement particles. In addition to hydration, the fineness of cement is vital for various properties of concrete including workability, gypsum requirement, and long-term behavior. The fineness of cement is represented in terms of the specific surface of cement which is typically measured in square meters per kilogram, with several methods available for this determination. Direct...

Fineness Modulus

The fineness modulus (FM) of aggregate is a numerical index that measures the coarseness or fineness of the particles. It is calculated by adding the cumulative percentages of aggregate retained on each of a specified series of sieves and dividing the sum by 100. Consider performing sieve analysis on sand through a set of ASTM sieves. The weight of aggregate retained in each sieve and pan placed at the bottom is recorded, as given in Column B of Table 1. To determine the fineness modulus of...

Extraction Extraction is a common technique used in organic chemistry to isolate a target compound. In the extraction process, a solute is transferred from one phase to another to separate it from unreacted starting materials or impurities. Extraction is also used to facilitate the isolation of a solute from a reaction solvent that is difficult to remove by evaporation, such as a solvent with a high boiling point. Generally, there are three types of extractions. First, in solid-liquid...
