Long-term Care Facilities

Long-term care facilities are residential or community-based settings that provide ongoing health, personal, and supportive services for people who cannot fully manage daily activities independently because of aging, chronic illness, disability, or recovery needs. Care typically combines nursing assessment, medication management, assistance with activities of daily living, rehabilitation, and coordinated monitoring through an interdisciplinary team. In clinical practice, these facilities include nursing homes, assisted living communities, and specialized centers that support complex or long-term conditions. They promote continuity of care, reduce gaps during transitions from hospitals, and help maintain residents’ safety, function, dignity, and quality of life.

Keeping the microscope optics clean is important for high-quality imaging. Dust, fingerprints, excess immersion oil, or mounting medium on or in a microscope causes reduction in contrast and resolution. DIC is especially sensitive to contamination and scratches on the lens surfaces. This protocol details the procedure for keeping the microscope clean.

2023

This protocol describes the fabrication and characterization of a photoresponsive prodrug-dye nanoassembly. The methodology for drug release from the nanoparticles by light-triggered disassembly, including the light irradiation setup, is explicitly described. The drugs released from the nanoparticles following light irradiation exhibited excellent anti-proliferation effects on human colorectal tumor cells.

Basic Mouse Care and Maintenance

2023

Mice (Mus musculus) are small rodents that breed and sexually mature quickly, making them perfectly suited to generating large animal colonies for biological research. As compared to other mammalian species, mice are simple and inexpensive to maintain in the laboratory. Nevertheless, mouse colonies do have specific husbandry needs that are critical to preserving animal health and safety as well as experimental reproducibility. This video demonstrates standard practices that ensure mice are...
