Equivalent Characteristic Spectrum Analysis

Equivalent Characteristic Spectrum Analysis is a vibration-analysis method that represents a complex or variable excitation through an equivalent spectrum of characteristic response demands, making dynamic behavior easier to evaluate in engineering systems. The method relates spectral response to frequency, damping, and modal properties, allowing the original loading to be summarized as response values across relevant vibration modes instead of treated only as a time history. Engineers can use this representation to assess resonance, estimate structural demand, compare alternative designs, and support seismic or other dynamic-load evaluations. Its value lies in providing a consistent basis for interpreting excitation and guiding safer, more efficient designs.

The Electromagnetic Spectrum

2020

The electromagnetic spectrum consists of all the types of electromagnetic radiation arranged according to their frequency and wavelength. Each of the various colors of visible light has specific frequencies and wavelengths associated with them, and you can see that visible light makes up only a small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. Because the technologies developed to work in various parts of the electromagnetic spectrum are different, for reasons of convenience and historical...

Pharmaceutical Equivalents

2025

As defined by regulatory standards, pharmaceutical equivalents require generic drug products to have identical dosage forms and chemically identical active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). They must adhere to compendial or applicable standards for potency, content uniformity, disintegration times, and dissolution rates. In the case of modified-release dosage forms, variations in drug content are permissible as long as the delivered amount remains consistent with the innovator drug product.

Equivalent Capacitance

Multiple capacitors can be connected in a circuit in series or parallel configuration. When the capacitor combination is connected to a battery, the potential drop across each capacitor and the magnitude of charge stored in the individual capacitor depends on the type of the connection. The capacitor combination is replaced by a single equivalent capacitor that stores the same amount of charge as the combination for a given potential difference. The following strategies are adopted to calculate...

IR Spectrum

When infrared (IR) radiation passes through a molecule, the bonds stretch or bend by absorbing the radiation. This absorption creates the molecule's absorption spectrum, which is the plot of its percentage transmittance versus wavenumber. Transmittance is defined as the ratio of the radiant power passing through a sample to that from the radiation's source. Multiplying the transmittance by 100 gives the percent transmittance (%T), which varies between 100% (no absorption) and 0% (complete...

Precise determination of the evolved gases' flow rate is key to study the details of reactions. We provide a novel quantitative analysis method of equivalent characteristic spectrum analysis for thermogravimetry-mass spectrum analysis by establishing the calibration system of the characteristic spectrum and relative sensitivity, for obtaining the flow rate.
