Platinum Resistance Thermometer

A platinum resistance thermometer is a temperature sensor that measures temperature through the predictable change in electrical resistance of platinum, making it important for accurate measurement and process control in engineering. As temperature changes, the resistance of a platinum element changes in a reproducible, nearly linear relationship over a defined range; an electrical circuit measures this resistance and converts it into a temperature reading using calibration data. PRTs provide strong accuracy, stability, and repeatability for laboratory instruments, industrial process monitoring, environmental systems, and control equipment. Their standardized behavior also supports reliable comparison among sensors and long-term temperature measurement.

Tropomodulin 3 (TMOD3) has been increasingly studied in tumors in recent years. This study is the first to report that TMOD3 is highly expressed in ovarian cancer and is closely associated with platinum resistance and immune infiltration. These results could help improve the therapeutic outcomes for ovarian cancer.

Thermometers and Temperature Scales

2023

Any physical property that depends consistently and reproducibly on temperature can be used as the basis of a thermometer. For example, volume increases with temperature for most substances. This property is the basis for the common alcohol thermometer and the original mercury thermometers. Other properties used to measure temperature include electrical resistance, color, and the emission of infrared radiation. As many physical properties depend on temperature, the variety of thermometers is...

Gas Thermometers and the Kelvin Scale

2023

The definition of temperature in terms of molecular motion suggests that there should be a lowest possible temperature, where the average kinetic energy of molecules is zero (or the minimum allowed by quantum mechanics). Experiments confirm the existence of such a temperature, called absolute zero. An absolute temperature scale is one whose zero point is absolute zero. Such scales are convenient in science because several physical quantities, such as the volume of an ideal gas, are directly...
