Microwave Tissue Processor

A microwave tissue processor is a laboratory instrument that prepares biological specimens for microscopic examination by accelerating fixation, dehydration, clearing, and paraffin infiltration. It uses controlled microwave energy to increase molecular movement and heat tissue-processing reagents, reducing the time required for solvent exchange and wax penetration while maintaining regulated temperature and exposure conditions. In immunology and infection research, this workflow supports the preparation of tissue sections for histopathology, immunohistochemistry, and evaluation of host responses to pathogens. Faster processing can improve laboratory throughput and help preserve tissue morphology and diagnostically important cellular or microbial features when protocols are properly optimized.

2013

Silica nanoparticles were prepared using acid-catalysis of a siloxane precursor and microwave-assisted synthetic techniques resulting in the controlled growth of nanomaterials ranging from 30-250 nm in diameter. The growth dynamics can be controlled by varying the initial silicic acid concentration, time of the reaction, and temperature of reaction.
