Corticosteroid Injection

Corticosteroid injection is a medical treatment that delivers a synthetic glucocorticoid directly into or near an inflamed joint, tendon sheath, bursa, or other targeted tissue to reduce pain and inflammation. After entering cells, the corticosteroid binds glucocorticoid receptors and alters gene transcription, decreasing the production and activity of inflammatory mediators and immune cells. Clinicians use these injections for conditions such as arthritis, bursitis, tendinopathy, and other localized musculoskeletal disorders, often when conservative treatments provide insufficient relief. Their effects can improve mobility and function, while appropriate patient selection and injection technique help limit complications and guide longer-term management.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary isease (COPD) involves a group of progressive lung disorders characterized by persistent airflow limitation and chronic respiratory symptoms. Asthma-COPD Overlap Syndrome (ACOS), encompassing features of both asthma and Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), is a group of progressive lung disorders that includes chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and refractory (non-reversible) asthma. ACOS leads to complex clinical presentations that combine the inflammatory...

Inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) are anti-inflammatory drugs used primarily in treating persistent asthma and providing long-term maintenance. They target the bronchial mucosa, the lining of the airways, to control inflammation, a critical factor in asthma progression and exacerbation. ICS work through a multifaceted mechanism of action. They suppress the inflammatory response caused by the proliferation of TH cells. They also reduce the transcription of the IL-2 gene, which is involved in the...

After neural tube formation, the neuroepithelium constricts and folds while the tube fills with embryonic cerebrospinal fluid (eCSF) to form the embryonic brain ventricles. We developed this ventricle injection technique to better visualize the fluid filled space in contrast to the neuroepithelial shape in a live embryo.
