Intrauterine Injection

Intrauterine injection is a medical technique that delivers a therapeutic, diagnostic, or reproductive substance directly into the uterine cavity or uterine tissue, placing it close to the intended site of action. Clinicians guide a fine needle through the cervix or uterine wall, often using ultrasound imaging, to control placement and limit injury to surrounding structures. The method can support selected fertility procedures, localized drug delivery, and investigational approaches involving cells or biologic materials. By concentrating treatment within the uterus, intrauterine injection may improve local exposure while reducing the need for broader systemic administration, although its safety and effectiveness depend on the substance, technique, and clinical indication.

Establishment of a Rat Model for Intrauterine Adhesions via Dual Injury: Curettage and Infection

Intrauterine adhesions (IUAs), the most common pathological consequence of endometrial injury, severely impair reproductive function. Trauma and infection are widely recognized as key risk factors for IUA development. We have successfully established a reproducible rat model of IUAs by combining two critical injury methods: mechanical curettage and infectious induction with lipopolysaccharide.

Intrauterine Drug Delivery Systems

2026

Controlled-release systems for intravaginal and intrauterine drug delivery have been developed primarily for the administration of contraceptive steroid hormones. These delivery routes circumvent first-pass hepatic metabolism, thereby enhancing bioavailability and allowing for reduced systemic dosages compared to oral administration. Such approaches contribute to improved therapeutic efficacy and patient compliance, particularly in long-term contraceptive regimens.Intravaginal Drug Delivery...
