Nasosorption

Nasosorption is a minimally invasive sampling technique that collects nasal lining fluid to measure local biomarkers, antibodies, and inflammatory mediators in the upper airway. An absorbent strip is placed briefly against the nasal mucosa, where capillary action draws in epithelial lining fluid; the strip is then removed and its contents eluted for laboratory analysis. In medicine, nasosorption supports research on respiratory infections, allergy, airway inflammation, and mucosal immune responses while reducing dependence on blood sampling. Its standardized, repeatable approach can help characterize disease processes, evaluate responses to treatment, and advance noninvasive monitoring of upper-airway health.
