Neuroprosthetics Interface

A neuroprosthetics interface is a communication link between the nervous system and an assistive device, enabling neural signals to control or receive feedback from artificial limbs and other technologies. It works by recording electrical activity from the brain, peripheral nerves, or muscles through electrodes, then decoding those signals into commands such as movement; some systems also deliver stimulation to convey touch or position. In neuroscience, these interfaces support prosthetic control, sensory restoration, and rehabilitation after neurological injury. Their development advances understanding of neural coding while addressing challenges in signal stability, biocompatibility, and long-term integration with the body.

Protein-protein Interfaces

2020

Many proteins form complexes to carry out their functions, making protein-protein interactions (PPIs) essential for an organism's survival. Most PPIs are stabilized by numerous weak noncovalent chemical forces. The physical shape of the interfaces determines the way two proteins interact. Many globular proteins have closely-matching shapes on their surfaces, which form a large number of weak bonds. Additionally, many PPIs occur between two helices or between a surface cleft and a polypeptide...

This article describes a biofabrication approach: deposition of stimuli-responsive polysaccharides in the presence of biased electrodes to create biocompatible films which can be functionalized with cells or proteins. We demonstrate a bench-top strategy for the generation of the films as well as their basic uses for creating interactive biofunctionalized surfaces for lab-on-a-chip applications.

Described herein is a protocol to isolate and further study the infiltrating leukocytes of the decidua basalis and decidua parietalis - the human maternal-fetal interface. This protocol maintains the integrity of cell surface markers and yields enough viable cells for downstream applications as proven by flow cytometry analysis.
