Online Platforms

Online platforms are digital systems that connect users with information, services, communities, or interactive tools through internet-based interfaces. In psychology, they operate by organizing user profiles, content, communication, and feedback through algorithms and platform features that shape how people interact, make decisions, and respond to social cues. Researchers use online platforms for behavioral experiments, surveys, digital interventions, and observational studies, while also examining effects on attention, identity, social relationships, mental health, and group behavior. Their accessibility and large-scale data can support timely psychological research, but privacy, consent, sampling bias, and changing platform environments require careful study design and interpretation.
