Scripts

Scripts are organized mental representations of the typical sequence of actions, events, or behaviors in familiar situations, helping people understand what usually happens and how to respond. In psychology, scripts develop through repeated experiences and interact with schemas, memory, and social expectations to guide attention, interpretation, and behavior, often allowing routine actions to proceed with little conscious effort. Researchers use the concept to study language comprehension, social cognition, development, decision-making, and memory, while clinicians may examine maladaptive scripts that contribute to unhelpful expectations or recurring behavioral patterns.

People tend to know what behavior is expected of them in specific, familiar settings. A script is a person’s knowledge about the sequence of events expected in a specific setting (Schank & Abelson, 1977). Essentially, scripts are a particular kind of schema, one containing default values for the features within an event. In the restaurant example, the script's features include the props (e.g., tables, menu, food, and money), the roles to be played (e.g., customer and waiter), the opening...

We present a protocol of personalized script-driven trauma-related imagery and clinical assessments within a comparison design for investigating peritraumatic dissociation (PD), psychophysiological reactions, i.e. heart rate (HR) and skin conductance (SC), and psychological features of often severely traumatized individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD).

Using Human Differentially Expressed Gene Lists to Perform Downstream Pathway Enrichment Analysis and Target Prioritization

The current work describes a protocol for running the Pathway2Targets algorithm, an R script that predicts and prioritizes therapeutic targets based on the profile of intracellular signaling pathways generated by comparing case versus control samples from a bulk RNA-sequencing experiment.

Neural control and cognitive processes can be studied through eye movements. The VisualEyes software allows an operator to program stimuli on two computer screens independently using a simple, custom scripting language. The system can stimulate tandem eye movements (saccades and smooth pursuit) or opposing eye movements (vergence) or any combination.

Automation of Mode Locking in a Nonlinear Polarization Rotation Fiber Laser through Output Polarization Measurements

2016

A protocol to detect and automate mode locking in a pre-adjusted nonlinear polarization rotation fiber laser is presented. The detection of a sudden change in the output polarization state when mode locking occurs is used to command the alignment of an intra-cavity polarization controller in order to find mode-locking conditions.
