Non-nuclear Inheritance

- [Le narrateur] Dans les cellules eucaryotes,les mitochondries et les plastes,catégorie d'organites de cellules végétalesqui inclut les chloroplastes,se reproduisent indépendamment dans le cytoplasme. 
Ils ont chacun leurs propres gènes,qui régissent leur reproduction et leur fonction. 
L'ADN des mitochondries et des plastesprend la forme de petites molécules d'ADN circulaires,appelées ADN non nucléaire ou cytoplasmique. 
Chaque organite porte de nombreuses copies identiquesde son ADN,contrairement au noyau, où il n'existe généralementque deux copies de chaque chromosome. 
De plus, lors de la division cellulaire,les organites se répartissent au hasarddans de nouvelles cellules filles. 
Donc, l'ADN non nucléaire qui est transmisne reproduit pas une structure fixe. 
Lors de la reproduction animaleet chez la plupart des végétaux,le cytoplasme du zygote se trouve dans l'œuf. 
Bien que les deux parents contribuent de façon égaleà l'ADN nucléaire, l'ADN non nucléaire est transmisuniquement par la mère. 
Par conséquent, certains traits,comme des troubles métaboliquesrésultant de mutations dans les mitochondries,se retrouvent sur la lignée maternelle. 
En outre, certains traits physiques chez les végétaux,comme la couleur des feuilles,sont régis par des gènes non nucléaires. 
Ceux-ci sont également transmis de façon uniparentale.

La plupart de l’ADN se trouve dans le noyau d’une cellule. Cependant, certains organites dans le cytoplasme cellulaire, tels que les chloroplastes et les mitochondries, ont également leur propre ADN. Ces organites répliquent leur ADN indépendamment de l’ADN nucléaire de la cellule dans laquelle ils résident. L'héritage non nucléaire décrit l’hérédité des gènes à partir de structures autres que le noyau.
 
 Les mitochondries sont présentes dans les cellules végétales et animales. Elles sont considérées comme les “ centrales électriques ” des cellules eucaryotes parce qu’elles décomposent le glucose pour former l’énergie qui alimente l’activité cellulaire. L’ADN mitochondrial se compose d’environ 37 gènes, et beaucoup d’entre eux contribuent à ce processus, appelé phosphorylation oxydative.
 
 Les chloroplastes se trouvent dans les plantes et les algues et sont les sites de la photosynthèse. La photosynthèse permet à ces organismes de produire du glucose à partir de la lumière du soleil. L’ADN chloroplastique se compose d’environ 100 gènes, dont beaucoup sont impliqués dans la photosynthèse.
 
 Contrairement à l'ADN chromosomique du noyau, l'ADN chloroplastique et mitochondrial ne respecte pas l'hypothèse mendélienne selon laquelle la moitié du matériel génétique d'un organisme provient de chaque parent. C’est parce que les spermatozoïdes n’apportent généralement pas d’ADN mitochondrial ou chloroplastique aux zygotes pendant la fécondation.
 
 Alors qu’un spermatozoïde apporte principalement un ensemble haploïde de chromosomes nucléaires au zygote, un ovule apporte ses organites en plus de ses chromosomes nucléaires. Les zygotes (et les chloroplastes dans les cellules végétales) reçoivent généralement des mitochondries et des chloroplastes uniquement à partir de l’ovule ; c’est ce qu’on appelle l’héritage maternel. L’héritage maternel est un type d’héritage non nucléaire, ou extra-nucléaire.
 
 Pourquoi les mitochondries et les chloroplastes ont-ils leur propre ADN ? L’explication dominante est la théorie endosymbiotique. La théorie endosymbiotique indique que les mitochondries et les chloroplastes étaient autrefois des procaryotes indépendants. À un moment donné, ils ont rejoint les cellules eucaryotes hôtes et sont entrés en relation symbiotique — une relation qui profite aux deux parties.

Cytoplasmic inheritance explains how some traits are passed through cell structures outside the nucleus. These traits come from organelles such as mitochondria and chloroplasts. They do not follow the usual nuclear pattern of inheritance.

Mitochondria and chloroplasts each contain their own DNA. Because of this, they can carry genetic information that affects cell function and certain visible traits. In high school biology, this topic helps explain why not all inherited traits come from chromosomes in the nucleus.

Cytoplasmic inheritance is often linked to the mother because the egg cell provides most of the cytoplasm to the embryo. That is why some traits appear to pass through the maternal line. Understanding this pattern is important for studying organelle genetics and unusual inheritance patterns.
