An Introduction to Mechanics

La mécanique est une branche des sciences physiques qui s’occupe de l’étude de l’état d’un objet au repos ou en mouvement sous l’action de forces.
T est généralement classé en mécanique des corps rigides, mécanique des corps déformables et mécanique des fluides.
La mécanique des corps rigides étudie les objets dans lesquels la déformation est négligeable sous l’action des forces.
Il peut être ramifié en statique et en dynamique. La statique traite de l’état des objets au repos, tandis que la dynamique traite des objets en mouvement.
La dynamique est ensuite divisée en cinématique et cinétique, où les forces responsables du mouvement sont négligées et considérées, respectivement.
La mécanique corporelle déformable étudie la déformation d’un objet sous l’action de forces.
L’étude du mouvement et des forces des fluides est appelée mécanique des fluides. Il est ensuite classé en fluides compressibles et incompressibles.
La conception et l’analyse de structures telles que les bâtiments, les ressorts à lames dans les automobiles, les crochets de grue, les pistolets à clous pneumatiques, les systèmes de freinage hydraulique et les robots industriels sont basées sur les principes de la mécanique.

Il serait difficile de documenter l'évolution de la mécanique depuis ses débuts jusqu'à aujourd'hui. Selon les archives, l'histoire de la mécanique commence avec Aristote (384-322 av. J.C.). Il a associé la mécanique à la théorie physique dans le but d'une synthèse universelle. Newton a défini la mécanique comme une branche des sciences physiques qui étudie l'état d'un objet au repos ou en mouvement sous l'action des forces. La mécanique est un domaine fondamental de la physique avec des applications importantes dans diverses branches de l'ingénierie et des sciences. L'étude de la mécanique est essentielle pour comprendre le mouvement des objets quotidiens, le comportement des machines et des dispositifs, ainsi que le fonctionnement de différents systèmes. La mécanique des corps rigides est une branche de la mécanique qui traite des objets dans lesquels la déformation est négligeable sous l'action des forces. La mécanique des corps rigides peut être divisée en deux branches : la statique et la dynamique. Mechanics is a key branch of physics that explains how objects stay at rest or move when forces act on them. It also has major uses in engineering and science. The topic helps students understand everyday motion, machine behavior, and the way many systems work.

The recorded history of mechanics begins with Aristotle, who lived from 384 to 322 BC. He linked mechanics with physical theory and looked for a broad universal explanation. Later, Newton defined mechanics as the study of objects at rest or in motion under the action of forces.

Rigid body mechanics deals with objects that do not deform much when forces act on them. This area is divided into statics and dynamics. Statics studies objects at rest, while dynamics studies objects in motion.

Dynamics is further divided into kinematics and kinetics. Kinematics describes motion without focusing on the forces that cause it. Kinetics includes those forces and explains how they affect motion.

Deformable body mechanics focuses on how objects change shape under force. This is important for understanding materials used in construction and manufacturing. It also helps in the design and analysis of structures.

Fluid mechanics studies the motion of fluids and the forces within them. It is often divided into compressible and incompressible fluids, based on how the fluid behaves. This field is used in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, fluid transportation, and chemical processing equipment.

Principles of mechanics guide the design of many structures and machines. Buildings and bridges are analyzed for material strength, gravity, and earth movement. The same ideas also apply to automobile leaf springs, hydraulic braking systems, crane hooks, industrial robots, and pneumatic nail guns.
