Quantitative Analysis

L’analyse quantitative détermine la quantité d’un ou plusieurs constituants d’un échantillon, dont la composition est souvent connue. Si ce n’est pas le cas, une analyse qualitative préliminaire est entreprise pour identifier ses constituants.
Dans l’analyse quantitative, le résultat est estimé à partir de deux mesures : la quantification de l’échantillon et la mesure proportionnellement d’une quantité liée à l’analyte.
L’analyse quantitative peut être classée en méthodes classiques et instrumentales.
Les méthodes classiques évaluent la masse ou le volume de l’analyte ou de son dérivé obtenu par une réaction chimique avec un réactif. En revanche, les méthodes instrumentales sondent la nature physique de l’analyte dans son interaction avec le rayonnement électromagnétique.
Étant donné que différents échantillons et instruments sont utilisés pour l’analyse quantitative, l’étalonnage des détecteurs est nécessaire. Ensuite, un tracé d’étalonnage est construit à l’aide de cuvettes contenant différentes quantités connues du même analyte, ce qui permet ensuite de déterminer la concentration inconnue de l’analyte dans l’échantillon.

L'analyse quantitative consiste à effectuer deux mesures clés: la quantité d'échantillon et une propriété proportionnelle à la quantité d'analyte (la substance analysée). Cela constitue la base de la méthode et garantit la précision dans la détermination de la concentration de l'analyte.

L'analyse quantitative peut être classée en deux types principaux : les méthodes classiques et les méthodes instrumentales. Les méthodes classiques impliquent la mesure de la masse ou du volume de l'analyte ou de sa forme dérivée chimiquement. Par exemple, l'analyse gravimétrique mesure la masse d'un précipité formé à partir d'une réaction chimique avec l'analyte pour déterminer sa concentration. Une autre méthode classique est le titrage, où le volume d'un réactif nécessaire pour réagir complètement avec l'analyte est mesuré.

Les méthodes instrumentales évaluent l'interaction entre l'analyte et les forces physiques comme le rayonnement électromagnétique. Par exemple, en spectrophotométrie, la concentration de l'analyte est déterminée en mesurant la quantité de lumière absorbée par l'échantillon. Un autre exemple est la spectroscopie d'absorption atomique, où la quantité de lumière absorbée par les atomes de l'échantillon fournit des informations sur la concentration de l'analyte.

Les courbes d'étalonnage jouent un rôle essentiel dans l'analyse quantitative. Les détecteurs et les instruments doivent être étalonnés à l'aide de concentrations connues de l'analyte, généralement placées dans des cuvettes. Quantitative analysis measures the amount of a specific substance, called the analyte, in a sample. If the sample composition is unknown, qualitative analysis comes first. That step identifies the components so the correct substances can be measured during the quantitative phase.

This method depends on two key measurements. Scientists measure the sample quantity and also a property that is proportional to the amount of analyte. Together, these measurements help determine the analyte concentration accurately.

Quantitative analysis is usually grouped into classical methods and instrumental methods. Classical methods measure mass or volume, either of the analyte itself or of a chemically derived form. Gravimetric analysis is one example. It measures the mass of a precipitate formed in a chemical reaction with the analyte. Titration is another classical method. It measures the volume of a reactant needed to fully react with the analyte.

Instrumental methods use the analyte’s interaction with physical forces, such as electromagnetic radiation. In spectrophotometry, concentration is found by measuring how much light the sample absorbs. Atomic absorption spectroscopy uses the amount of light absorbed by atoms in the sample to show the analyte concentration.

Calibration curves are a major part of quantitative analysis. Detectors and instruments are calibrated with known concentrations of the analyte, often placed in cuvettes. These known values are used to make a calibration plot. The plot helps scientists find the concentration of the unknown analyte in the sample and improves the accuracy of the analysis.
