Les réseaux électriques sont d’abord représentés par des circuits équivalents constitués de trois composants linéaires passifs : résistances, condensateurs et inductances.
Ces composants sont combinés en circuits, avec l'entrée et la sortie décidées, et la fonction de transfert est trouvée à l'aide des lois de Kirchhoff.
Dans un circuit RLC, la fonction de transfert qui relie la tension aux bornes du condensateur à la tension d'entrée peut être dérivée à l'aide de la loi de tension de Kirchhoff.
Cela donne une équation intégro-différentielle pour le réseau, en supposant des conditions initiales nulles.
Les variables sont d’abord changées du courant à la charge, puis appliquées à la relation tension-charge pour un condensateur.
En prenant la transformée de Laplace de cette équation et en la simplifiant, on obtient la fonction de transfert de ce circuit.
L’impédance est une fonction de transfert similaire à la résistance mais applicable aux condensateurs et aux inductances.
Les fonctions de transfert peuvent également être obtenues en utilisant la loi de courant de Kirchhoff, en utilisant l'analyse nodale.
Les courants dans le système sont composés du courant circulant dans le condensateur et du courant qui circule dans la résistance série et l’inductance.

Pour déterminer la fonction de transfert, considérons un circuit RLC dont les composants sont connectés en série. Ici, V(t) est la tension d'entrée, VR(t)=i(t)R est la tension aux bornes de la résistance, VC(t)= q(t)/C est la tension aux bornes du condensateur, où q(t) est la charge du condensateur et VL(t) = L(di(t)/dt) est la tension aux bornes de l'inducteur.

Le courant i(t) est lié à la charge q(t) par i(t)=dq(t)/dt. En remplaçant ces relations dans l'équation KVL, on obtient :

Cette fonction de transfert représente la tension aux bornes du condensateur en réponse à la tension d'entrée dans le domaine fréquentiel. L'impédance, similaire à la résistance mais applicable aux condensateurs et aux inductances, joue un rôle clé dans la définition de la fonction de transfert. De plus, la loi du courant de Kirchhoff (KCL) peut également être utilisée pour déterminer les fonctions de transfert via l'analyse nodale. Cette loi stipule que la somme des courants entrant dans un nœud doit être égale à la somme des courants sortant du nœud. Dans le circuit RLC, le courant total est la somme du courant traversant le condensateur et du courant traversant la combinaison en série de la résistance et de l'inductance. En appliquant KCL et en simplifiant, on peut obtenir la même fonction de transfert.

RLC circuits use resistors, capacitors, and inductors to show how electrical signals change over time. In circuit analysis, these passive linear components are arranged so the link between an input and an output can be described with a transfer function. For this topic, the output is the voltage across the capacitor, compared with the input voltage.

A series RLC circuit can be analyzed with Kirchhoff's Voltage Law, or KVL. KVL says that the sum of all voltages around a closed loop is zero. Using that rule, the circuit can be written as an integro-differential equation when the initial conditions are zero.

In the equation, the input voltage is V(t). The resistor voltage is VR(t) = i(t)R, where i(t) is the current. The capacitor voltage depends on the charge q(t), and the inductor voltage depends on the current change in the loop. Since current and charge are related, these expressions can be substituted into the KVL equation.

The same circuit can also be written in voltage form and converted with the Laplace transform. With all initial conditions set to zero, this step gives an equation in the frequency domain. Rearranging the terms produces the transfer function for the capacitor voltage response.

Impedance plays an important role in this result. It works like resistance, but it applies to capacitors and inductors as well. The transfer function shows how the capacitor voltage responds to the input voltage in the frequency domain.

Kirchhoff's Current Law, or KCL, can also be used to reach the same result through nodal analysis. KCL says that the sum of currents entering a node must equal the sum of currents leaving it. In the RLC circuit, the total current is the current through the capacitor plus the current through the series resistor and inductor, and simplifying this relationship gives the same transfer function.
