Voici un guide sur la mesure de la température axillaire à l’aide d’un thermomètre numérique.
Avant de mesurer la température, lavez-vous les mains et mettez une paire de gants propres.
Tout d’abord, préparez le patient en expliquant la procédure, en assurant l’intimité, en vous assurant que l’aisselle est exposée et en expliquant qu’une lecture correcte nécessite un mouvement minimal.
Ensuite, positionnez le patient en le faisant s’allonger sur le dos, le bras légèrement surélevé et le coude fléchi.
Pour des résultats précis et pour réduire le risque d’infection, nettoyez l’aisselle à l’aide d’un tampon imbibé d’alcool et laissez-la sécher naturellement.
Pour prendre une mesure, placez le thermomètre numérique dans l’aisselle, puis demandez au patient de tenir son bras sur son torse tout en posant sa main sur ou au-dessus de l’épaule opposée. Offrez de l’aide si nécessaire.
Retirez le thermomètre dès que vous entendez le bip sonore, notez la lecture et nettoyez-le avec un tampon imbibé d’alcool.
Assurez le confort du patient pendant et après l’évaluation de la température grâce à une surveillance étroite.
