On considère qu’un adulte souffre de bradycardie lorsque le pouls diminue à 60 battements ou moins par minute.
Un épisode de bradycardie peut réduire l’apport d’oxygène aux organes et aux tissus, ce qui fait que le cœur ne pompe pas suffisamment le sang vers le cerveau et d’autres parties du corps.
La bradycardie n’a pas toujours de symptômes ou de complications, mais elle peut entraîner un accident vasculaire cérébral ou même une insuffisance cardiaque si elle n’est pas traitée.
