Antisocial Personality Disorder is characterized by a persistent disregard for the rights and feelings of others and exploitative behaviors, such as using aliases, lying, or conning others for personal gain or amusement.
Individuals with this disorder often exhibit deceitfulness, impulsivity, aggression, and a reckless disregard for safety, violation of social norms, and engaging in unlawful activities, showing little remorse.
Additionally, they often fail to maintain stable employment and repay debts, frequently using others for personal gain.
Furthermore, they justify harmful actions and use superficial charm to manipulate those around them.
Biological factors, including reduced autonomic nervous system arousal levels and reduced activation in the prefrontal cortex, strongly influence the development of this disorder.
Psychological factors, such as a lack of empathy, make it challenging to feel concerned about others' suffering.
The sociocultural factors include childhood abuse, neglect, and unstable family environments.
Finally, exposure to crime-prone communities and negative peer influences further reinforce antisocial behaviors.
