Arm Design Combination

Arm design combination refers to the deliberate arrangement of different arm types within a behavioral maze to examine how animals respond to contrasting environmental cues. By combining features such as open or enclosed spaces, wall height, lighting, and surface configuration, researchers manipulate perceived safety, novelty, and exposure while recording arm entries, time spent, and movement patterns. This design supports the study of exploration, avoidance, anxiety-related behavior, and risk assessment under controlled conditions. Comparing responses across arm configurations can clarify how environmental structure influences decision-making and locomotion, making arm design combination useful in behavioral neuroscience, pharmacology, and studies of animal models.

Muscles that Move the Arm

Nine muscles are involved in arm movements. Two of these, the pectoralis major and latissimus dorsi, originate from the axial skeleton and are called axial muscles. The other seven originate from the scapula and are called the scapular muscles. The pectoralis major has two origins. Its clavicular head originates on the medial half of the clavicle. In contrast, the sternocostal head originates on the costal cartilages of ribs 1-6, the sternum, and the aponeurosis of the external oblique of the...

We developed a real-time mirror robot system for functional recovery of hemiplegic arms using automatic control technology, conducted a clinical study on healthy subjects, and determined tasks through feedback from rehabilitation doctors. This simple mirror robot can be applied effectively to occupational therapy in stroke patients with a hemiplegic arm.

The eight-arm radial water maze is designed to evaluate reference and working memory performance simultaneously by requiring subjects to use extra-maze cues to locate escape platforms and remedies the limitations observed in land based radial arm maze designs.

Factorial Design

Factorial Analysis is an experimental design that applies Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) statistical procedures to examine a change in a dependent variable due to more than one independent variable, also known as factors. Changes in worker productivity can be reasoned, for example, to be influenced by salary and other conditions, such as skill level. One way to test this hypothesis is by categorizing salary into three levels (low, moderate, and high) and skills sets into two levels (entry level...
