Coverslip Sealing

Coverslip sealing is the process of securing a coverslip over a biological specimen to preserve the prepared slide for microscopy. A sealing medium is applied around the coverslip edge, forming a barrier that limits evaporation, prevents contaminants from entering, and helps hold the coverslip in place while maintaining the specimen and mounting medium. In biology, this technique supports consistent imaging of stained cells, tissues, and other microscopic samples, particularly during repeated observation or long-term storage. Proper sealing can improve preparation stability, protect sample morphology, and reduce artifacts caused by drying or coverslip movement.
