Wet Lay-up Technique

The wet lay-up technique is a composite manufacturing method in which liquid resin is applied to dry reinforcement materials to form a fiber-reinforced structure. During fabrication, layers of glass, carbon, or other fibers are positioned in a mold, impregnated with resin, and consolidated to remove air and promote uniform wetting before the resin cures. This versatile process supports the production of prototypes, repairs, and low-volume components with complex shapes, including panels, housings, and structural parts. Its relatively simple equipment requirements make it valuable in engineering, although part quality depends on careful control of resin distribution, fiber alignment, and curing conditions.
