Competing Risk Nomogram

A competing risk nomogram is a graphical prediction tool that estimates an individual’s probability of experiencing a specific event when other possible events can occur first and prevent that outcome. It combines predictors from competing-risk regression models, such as cause-specific hazard or Fine–Gray models, and converts their values into points that yield a cumulative incidence estimate over a defined time period. In statistics and clinical research, these nomograms support individualized prognosis, risk stratification, and treatment planning by accounting for the fact that death, relapse, or another endpoint may alter the probability of the event under study. Their calibration and discrimination should be evaluated before clinical use.

Competing-Risk Nomogram for Predicting Cancer-Specific Survival in Multiple Primary Colorectal Cancer Patients after Surgery

2024

The study found that male gender, poor tumor grade, and advanced Tumor Node Metastasis stage were associated with poorer cancer-specific survival (CSS) in multiple primary colorectal cancer (MPCC) patients after surgery. We developed a nomogram to predict the CSS of MPCC patients and contribute to clinical treatment decision-making.

All animal procedures described here must be conducted in accordance with institutional animal ethics guidelines and approved by IACUC. All procedures must follow the principles of the 3Rs—Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement—and must be performed by trained personnel. A Stepwise Approach to Training Proper training and competency in animal procedures are essential to ensure high standards of animal welfare and reliable scientific outcomes. A structured, progressive training approach is...
