Isac 2d Clustering

ISAC 2D clustering, or Iterative Stable Alignment and Clustering, is a cryo-electron microscopy method that organizes noisy single-particle images into consistent two-dimensional projection classes. The algorithm repeatedly aligns particle images, groups them according to image similarity, and refines these assignments to retain stable class averages that represent shared structural features. In biochemistry, these averages improve the visibility of molecular features and help researchers assess particle quality, identify structural heterogeneity, and prepare reliable datasets for three-dimensional reconstruction. By reducing noise before modeling, ISAC 2D clustering supports more accurate analysis of macromolecular complexes and their organization.

Spatial Separation of Molecular Conformers and Clusters

2014

We present a technique that allows the spatial separation of different conformers or clusters present in a molecular beam. An electrostatic deflector is used to separate species by their mass-to-dipole moment ratio, leading to the production of gas-phase ensembles of a single conformer or cluster stoichiometry.

A plane traveling due north at 180 km/h in still air was found to be 80 km off-course after 30 minutes, deviating approximately 5 degrees east of north. This deviation means the influence of a crosswind alters the plane’s intended trajectory. The actual ground path formed a diagonal, suggesting that the aircraft’s effective ground speed was reduced to 160 km/h and directed slightly to the east due to the wind.By analyzing the displacement from the intended path, the velocity contributed by the...

Cluster Sampling Method

Appropriate sampling methods ensure that samples are drawn without bias and accurately represent the population. Because measuring the entire population in a study is not practical, researchers use samples to represent the population of interest. To choose a cluster sample, divide the population into clusters (groups) and then randomly select some of the clusters. All the members from these clusters are in the cluster sample. For example, if you randomly sample four departments from your...

Vesicular Tubular Clusters

2023

After budding out from the ER membrane, some COPII vesicles lose their coat and fuse with one another to form larger vesicles and interconnected tubules called vesicular tubular clusters or VTCs. These clusters constitute a compartment at the ER-Golgi interface known as ERGIC (Endoplasmic Reticulum Golgi Intermediate Compartment). The ERGIC is a mobile membrane-bound cargo transport system that sorts proteins secreted from ER and delivers them to the Golgi. With the help of motor proteins such...
