Single Cell Picking

Single cell picking is a technique for identifying, isolating, and transferring individual cells from a mixed population for focused analysis. Using microscopy-guided micromanipulation or automated cell-handling systems, researchers select a target cell, capture it with a micropipette or related tool, and deposit it into a separate container for culture or molecular testing. In cancer research, this approach helps investigate tumor heterogeneity, rare cell populations, and clonal variation that bulk assays can obscure. Isolated cells can support genomic, transcriptomic, phenotypic, or drug-response analyses, linking individual-cell characteristics to disease progression and treatment sensitivity.
