Rotating Basket Apparatus

The Rotating Basket Apparatus is a compendial in vitro device used to measure how quickly active ingredients are released from oral dosage forms into a liquid medium. During testing, a mesh basket holds the tablet or capsule while rotating at a controlled speed in dissolution medium maintained at a specified temperature, creating reproducible fluid movement around the formulation. Samples collected over time are analyzed to construct a drug-release profile. In clinical and pharmaceutical research, these profiles support formulation development, quality control, batch-to-batch consistency, and evaluation of whether dosage forms meet established dissolution specifications.

Source: Laboratory of Jonathan Flombaum—Johns Hopkins University Visual mental imagery refers to the ability to conjure images in one’s mind’s eye. This allows people to process visual material above and beyond the constraints of a current point-of-view; for example, a person could imagine, using their mind’s eye, how something might look in a different color, or what it would look like if it were made from a different material or rotated and seen from a different perspective. Mental imagery...

Operant drug self-administration and conditioned place preference (CPP) procedures are expansively used in research to model various components of drug reinforcement, consumption, and addiction in humans. In this report, we combined traditional CPP and self-administration methods as a novel approach to studying drug reinforcement and addiction in rats.

Massive irreparable rotator cuff tears (MIRCTs) pose significant clinical challenges due to their complex pathology and limited treatment options. This study introduces whole rotator cable reconstruction (WRCR) using proximal biceps tendon autograft as a novel surgical technique for MIRCTs.

Golgi Apparatus

Properly folded and assembled proteins are selectively packaged into vesicles that exit the ER. Motor proteins transport these vesicles to the Golgi apparatus for adding modifications that make these proteins functional at their destination. The Golgi apparatus is a eukaryotic organelle that has a distinctive ribbon-like appearance. It is a primary sorting and dispatch station for cargo arriving from the ER. Newly arriving vesicles enter the cis face of the Golgi, closest to the ER, and are...

As they leave the Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER), properly folded and assembled proteins are selectively packaged into vesicles. These vesicles are transported by microtubule-based motor proteins and fuse together to form vesicular tubular clusters, subsequently arriving at the Golgi apparatus, a eukaryotic endomembrane organelle that often has a distinctive ribbon-like appearance. The Golgi apparatus is a major sorting and dispatch station for the products of the ER. Newly arriving vesicles enter...
