Alpha Cut-off Frequency

Alpha cut-off frequency is the frequency at which a transistor’s common-base current gain, α, decreases to 0.707 of its low-frequency value, corresponding to a 3 dB reduction in magnitude. As frequency rises, junction capacitances and the finite time required for charge carriers to cross the base introduce reactance and phase delay, reducing the transistor’s ability to transfer current. Engineers use this parameter to evaluate high-frequency transistor performance, estimate bandwidth, and compare device suitability for amplifiers, oscillators, and switching circuits. Together with transition frequency and beta cut-off frequency, it supports frequency-response analysis and high-speed circuit design.

Cut-off Frequency of BJT

2024

Cut-off frequencies in Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJTs) mark the transition between the signal's pass band and stop band, influencing their performance in amplifying or attenuating frequencies. These frequencies are crucial for designing BJTs to meet specific operational requirements in electronic circuits. Alpha Cut-Off Frequency: Pertinent to the common-base configuration, the alpha cut-off frequency defines the upper-frequency limit at which the current gain, alpha, remains stable. As...

This video demonstrates the immunostaining of neurons treated with alpha-synuclein (αS) aggregates. The neurons are first treated with αS aggregates. They are then fixed, permeabilized, and treated with a blocking solution. Primary antibodies are added, followed by a fluorescently labeled secondary antibodies and a nuclear stain. The sample is then mounted and observed under a microscope.

Induction of Neuroinflammation in Mice via Injection of Alpha-Synuclein Fibrils

2025

This video demonstrates the injection of alpha-synuclein fibrils into a mouse to induce neuroinflammation. The fibrils are injected intraperitoneally into a transgenic mouse expressing mutated alpha-synuclein proteins. Upon reaching the central nervous system, the fibrils enter neurons and induce aggregation of the mutated proteins. The aggregates spread to neighboring neurons, microglia, and astrocytes. Recognition of the aggregates triggers microglia to induce neuroinflammation, damaging the...
