Emitter Base Collector

Emitter, base, and collector are the three terminals of a bipolar junction transistor (BJT), providing the connections that govern its electrical behavior. In active operation, a small base current controls a much larger collector-to-emitter current: the emitter injects charge carriers, the thin base regulates their transport, and the collector gathers them under suitable bias conditions. This emitter-base-collector arrangement enables signal amplification and electronic switching, while biasing determines the transistor’s operating region, gain, and output response. Understanding these terminals is fundamental to analyzing semiconductor circuits, designing amplifiers, and building digital systems that rely on controlled current flow.
