Short Term Assets

Short-term assets are resources a business expects to convert into cash, sell, or consume within one year or its normal operating cycle, making them central to liquidity and day-to-day financial management. They typically include cash and cash equivalents, accounts receivable, inventory, and marketable securities; these assets support operations by funding purchases, covering expenses, and generating revenue as they move through the operating cycle. Analysts use short-term assets to assess working capital, calculate liquidity ratios such as the current ratio, evaluate cash-flow resilience, and judge whether a company can meet near-term obligations without selling long-term investments or raising additional financing.
