Mobile app engagement is the extent and quality of users’ interactions with a mobile application, a marketing measure that helps organizations assess whether an app creates sustained value beyond initial downloads. It develops through repeated behaviors such as opening the app, completing in-app actions, responding to personalized content or push notifications, and returning over time; marketers track these behaviors with measures including session frequency, duration, retention, and conversion. Strong engagement can improve customer relationships, loyalty, and campaign performance by connecting user data with timely experiences, while low engagement can reveal friction in onboarding, navigation, or relevance and guide product and communication changes.
